The High Commission of Ghana in Pretoria has denied speculations that a Ghanaian has been stabbed as a result of Ghana’s game against South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana defeated South Africa 1:0 in the 2022 FIFA world cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium last Sunday to book a place in the playoff round of the qualifiers.[ads2]
Aftermath of the game comes with allegations by the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) that the game was fixed and they suspect a foul play between Ghana and Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette who officiated the encounter.
The South Africa FA has already written to the world football governing body, FIFA to commence investigations into the game, calling for a replay of the match.[ads3]
It also came out in the local media that a Ghanaian has died in the KwaZulu Natal Province in South Africa after he was stabbed following a heated argument over the result of the Black Stars and the Bafana Bafana clash last Sunday.
According to the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria, a thorough investigations reveal that the news was faked, urging Ghanaians in South Africa to go about their daily activities without fear.[ads4]
“They should act with circumspect by avoiding unnecessary arguments as well in areas where sentiments and tensions are high They should contact the mission at any time when they feel their lives are in danger”, part of the statement from the Commission reads.
