“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch Chaiirman of Botodwina in the Western Region Mr Musa and his accomplices branch coordinator Benjamin Enim with some NPP supporters stormed the residence of Seth Boampong to physically assault him while openly threatening to end his life if he doesn’t stop speaking against School feeding program.
Mr Seth Boampong is a popular serial caller for the National Democratic Congress in the Western region who calls into sociopolitical programs to speak for NDC while addressing challenges confronting his community (Botodwina) and its environs.
Mr Seth for the past 3 weeks has been sharing the frustration of his community over the lack of feeding to pupils in his community.
It is on record that the caterers of the school feeding program have not been cooking since school reopened this term in Botodwina a suburb of mpohor District. He being a mouth piece of the community means that teachers and parents together with the pupils of the affected school have came to him with complaints of the problem.
He then visited the school for over a week to ascertain the truth in the complaints and started firing on all available platforms regarding the predicament of his community.
His continues to hammer on the issues on almost all social political programs in and around Sekondi-Takoradi, Shama and the Ahanta enclave, attracting the displeasure of the NPP folks who think the NDC caller was denigrating the image of the regional school feeding coordinator who doubles as the NPP regional women’s organiser, Madam Abena Kwalah. They therefore took the law into their hands to assault Seth on Monday evening.
Seth reported the assault case on Tuesday morning, after which medical forms were issued to him for medical checkup and medication.
The culprits Mr Musa and the Benjamin Enim were invited by the Shama district command and they have been cautioned waiting for prosecution.
The regional communication officer of NDC who was Informed immediately the incident took place went to the Shama District police commander yesterday morning to know how the case is being handled. The commander Mr Fred Atta Yeboah has assured us that the case will put before court immediately the preliminary investigation is completed.
We condemn the attack as we wait for investigations to be completed.
