The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have reportedly chosen Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye as the speaker for the eighth parliament.
The renowned politician has been the speaker for the seventh Parliament since January, 2017 when President Akufo-Addo ascended the throne.[ads2]
Reports murmuring indicate that, the NPP have decided to let the 76-year old politician to continue serving as the third leader of the country in the next Parliament.[ads3]
It is also reported that, member of Parliament for Suame in the Ashanti Region, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has been chosen to continue serving as the majority leader for the next Parliament with Alex Afenyo Markin as the deputy.
Meanwhile the next Parliament would be sworn in on January 7, 2021 alongside President Akufo-Addo who was winner in the just ended elections.[ads5]
