The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have chosen leaders to represent the party in the 8th Parliament.
The next Parliament would be inaugurated on January 7, 2021 as well as President Akufo-Addo who was declared winner of the 2020 December polls by the Electoral Commission of Ghana sworn in.[ads2]
The National Council of the NPP have approved Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye to continue serving as the speaker of Parliament.
The former Dome Kwabenya legislator has been the speaker of Parliament since January, 2017 when President Akufo-Addo ascended the presidential throne of the republic.[ads3]
It is believed that the NPP National Council have confident in the 76-year old politician to continue serving as the third leader of the 4th republic.
MP for Suame in the Ashanti Region, Kyei Mensah Bonsu has been approved to continue the mandate as the majority leader in the next Parliament with Efutu MP-elect Alex Afenyo Markin as the deputy, taking over from Dome Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Nsawam Adoagyiri legislator, Frank Annor-Dompreh will serve as the chip whip with Ayawaso West Wugon MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan and Mohammed Habib Tijani who is the deputy Foreign Affairs Minister as deputies.[ads4]
