The National Sports Authority has declared the Baba Yara Sports Stadium closed till further notice as of Friday, August 4, 2023.
The move is to enable the organization to maintain the field in the finest possible shape for Ghana’s match against the Central African Republic later next month.
According to Mr. Emmanuel Appiah, the NSA’s Ashanti Regional Director,the Baba Yara Sports Stadium won’t host any activities until after the forthcoming AFCON qualifier.

“The Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch is closed for football and other sporting activities until Ghana VS Central African Republic game on September 7,” he told Akoma FM in an interview.
The last Group E match of the 2023 AFCON qualifications is slated to feature the Central African Republic and the Black Stars.After playing five matches, Ghana is top of Group E with 9 points.
To qualify for the 2023 AFCON, Ghana must at least earn a point against the Central African Republic next month.

The Black Stars will open camp in Accra before departing to Kumasi for the game. The game has been scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT on September 7
