Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has pointed fingers at head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum for the club’s recent struggles, stating that the coach must take full responsibility for the team’s underwhelming performance this season.
In an interview with the Daily Porcupine, Duku revealed that Ogum was given complete autonomy in player recruitment but has failed to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for the title.
“We gave him complete freedom to recruit players of his choice, so if the players aren’t performing and management is doing its part, and it’s clear that the issue is performance-based, who is responsible for improving the team’s output? It is the technical team,” Duku emphasized.
With just six matches left in the 2024/25 campaign, the Porcupine Warriors remain off the pace in the title race, much to the disappointment of fans and club executives alike.
Duku’s comments come amid growing speculation surrounding Ogum’s future with the club, following his reported dismissal. The club is expected to announce further changes in the coming days as it seeks to salvage what’s left of the season.
