French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon has been handed a provisional Lique 2 relegation by DNCG after a series of irregularities.
The statement also includes transfer ban due to their financial situation, in addition to eventual relegation. DNGC have also taken control of Lyon’s payroll.
DNCG, who are responsible for overseeing the finances of all LFP clubs made the sanction yesterday November 15th, 2024.
Lyon’s debt has risen to over €500m. Relegation will only occur at the end of the season if the Lyon’s finances are not in order by then.
Thus if Olympique Lyon fail to pay off their debts at the end of the season, they’ll be officially relegated to Ligue 2.
