Seasoned journalist and a senior member of Takoradi Technical University, Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, has earned a prominent position as an Academic Board Representative on the Convocation Board of the University. He, along with eight other senior members, was formally commissioned onto the prestigious Convocation Board on Wednesday, August 10, 2023, at the University Auditorium.
Dr. Adelaide Spio-Kwofie chairs the University’s new Convocation Board, which comprises Mrs. Judith McClain-Afful, Dr. Kofi Kwarteng, Mr. Bernard Mayne, Mr. Hafix Adam, Mr. Daniel Kumi Owusu, Mr. Richard Anfo Apori, Ms. Olivia Agyeman, and Mr. Ennin Oppan Kojo.

The induction took place during the second convocation meeting of the 2022/2023 Academic Year, overseen by Prof. Victor Kwaku Bondzie-Micah, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Adelaide Spio-Kwofie acknowledged the past leadership’s accomplishments and expressed profound gratitude to the university community for entrusting them with the responsibility to serve on the Convocation Board.
She pledged that the new board is determined to build on the achievements of the past leadership and strive for greater success with the collective support of the University community.
Mr. Oti-Asirifi’s journey at the University spans fifteen years, characterized by active engagement across various boards and committees since 2008.
He has assumed pivotal roles, participating in committees related to finance, student affairs, strategic planning, tertiary education review, scheme of service drafting, disability policy, sports and recreation, university health policy, student residence policy, examinations sanctions policy, and more.
His multifaceted contributions underscore his commitment to enhancing different aspects of the university’s operations.

He is currently the head of the Disability Support and Services Unit of the University. Mr. Oti-Asirifi is a Chartered Administrator and a Chartered Management Consultant. He holds a Master of Arts in Development Management, a B.A. Hons in History from the University of Cape Coast, an Executive Master’s Certificate in Oil and Gas from the Phortish Lovell Institute in the United Kingdom, a Professional Teacher’s Certificate from the Kibi College of Education, and a Diploma in Education Competency-Based Training (Disability & Gender) from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development in Kumasi.
He is currently in the final year of pursuing an LLB Law degree at GIMPA (KAAF University) and an M.A. in Strategic Communication at the University of Education, Winneba.

Born in Bawku in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi hails from Apinamang, Akyem Abuakwa, Eastern Region.
Beyond his academic and administrative pursuits, he is a passionate sports enthusiast and serves as the Secretary of the University Sports and Recreation Committee, responsible for successfully hosting the first annual sports awards at the University.
His prowess extends to the media landscape as a distinguished sports broadcaster in Ghana, having amassed twenty-three years of experience working with entities such as the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Ocean TV, Kyzz FM, Radio 360 and Skyy Power FM.
His expertise in writing and presentation has earned him respect as a seasoned scriptwriter and broadcaster with finesse.
He is the immediate-past Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (WR/WNR).
He is a unionist and the national president of the Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG).
