The Parliament of Ghana has approved thirteen ministerial nominees from President Akufo-Addo.
Ten were approved by consensus while three were approved by the floor of Parliament after secret balloting on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, minister-designate for Information; Hawa Koomson, minister-designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Owusu Afriyie Akoto, minister-designate for Food and Agriculture were the three nominees that were approved on a majority decision.[ads2]
Earlier reports were that, the three were rejected by the Minority members of Parliament on the Appointment Committee after the vetting.
But the other ten who were approved on consensus were Albert Kan Dapaah for National Security; Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; Dan Botwe for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development; Ambrose Dery for Interior; Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, for Employment and Labour Relations and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for Parliamentary Affairs.[ads1]
Others include Sarah Adwoa Safo for Gender, Children and Social Protection; Matthew Opoku Prempeh for Energy; Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum for Education and Dominic Nitiwul for Defence.
