Ghana’s Thomas Partey found the net for Atletico Madrid in Tuesday’s Spanish La Liga tie against Huesca at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The match was a round 6 tie for the Madrid-based team and they were hoping to stay in touch with Barcelona and Real Madrid on the league table.
The Black Stars midfielder fired home a shot from distance in the 29th minute to extend Atletico’s lead to 2-0.
Antoine Griezmann and Koke scored either side of Partey’s strike to make the score 3-0 to the home side.
The goal was Partey’s first of the season and he was happy with his and the team’s efforts on the night.
Thomas Partey
“I am the kind of player who can play in any position and get to the opponent’s area to try and get a goal. We did a good job tonight and we need to keep going in that direction.”
Partey’s exertions were enough to get him the Man of the Match prize as stated by the club’s Twitter handle.
