The National Democratic Congress (NDC) have petitioned the Supreme Court over the legitimacy of the 2020 election results.
The NDC have refused to accept defeat after the Electoral Commission declared President Akufo-Addo and the NPP as winner of the just ended polls.[ads2]
President Akufo-Addo accumulated 6,730,587 votes (51.3%) whiles competitor and flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama amassed 6,213,182 (47.3%) as announced by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
But since the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the president-elect, the NDC and its flagbearer John Dramani Mahama have refused to accept defeat, stating that the elections was flawed and fictitious.[ads3]
As the Constitution provides the right for every party to challenge an election results within 21 days after announcement by the Electoral Commission, the NDC arrived at the Supreme Court earlier today to file a petition against the results of the 2020 December polls.
The team from the party was led by Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe and National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.[ads4]
