Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana on Monday 26th December, 2022 stormed the premises of some hospitals in the Western Region to celebrate this year’s Christmas with new born babies.
A team from MTN led by the Senior Manager for South-West, Prince Owusu Nyarko who was accompanied by the Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobiba Nketsia lV, made a presentation to babies born on the Christmas Day at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, and the Essikado Hospital with a hamper each.
The hampers contained diapers, towels, baby lotion, cream and powder, wet wipes plus some MTN talktime.
At the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital a total of 9 babies received the hampers from MTN whiles 6 picked theirs at the Essikado Hospital, making it a total of 15 mothers who gave birth on Christmas Day 25th December, 2022 that picked hampers from MTN Ghana.
In all a total of 50 hampers were donated to babies born on Christmas Day for the South West District sector for MTN Ghana.
Senior Manager for South-West MTN Ghana, Prince Owusu Nyarko spoke to the press after the donation. He said the move which has over the years become an annual event forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibilities of supporting the well-being of Ghanaians.
” He added that, MTN Ghana is dashing out a total of 500 hampers in 40 hospitals across the country”.
The Medical Officer in charge at the NICU department at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Dr. Eugene Nkrumah expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture.
“We want to say a very big thank you to MTN Ghana. We know that MTN Ghana keeps smiles on the faces of people all the time, We are glad that on this Boxing day they are here to donate to babies born on Christmas Day, We are really greatful to them and hope this won’t be the last time but they should continue with this gesture in the coming years”.
He further made an appeal to MTN Ghana to come to their aid by getting them some incubators since the ones at their disposal is not enough to take care of the number of babies at the hospital who will need incubator care after delivery.
The beneficiaries, most of whom were well enough and due for discharge thanked MTN, saying it was a big surprise to them.
