Bernard Attom, born in 9th March 1990 [age 28 yrs] is a Ghanaian national team volleyball player who hails from Elmina in the Central region of Ghana but currently stays in Takoradi [Western region].
He began his elementary school at Bedu-Addo Methodist Primary and Junior High School before he gained an admission to Sekondi College[Secko] in 2006 .
Attom began learning and playing volleyball back in Junior High School, where he helped the school’s volleyball team to clinched numerous of accolades. His performances for Bedu- Addo volleyball team propelled him to gain a scholarship to Sekondi College.
Bernard helped the Sekondi College’s volleyball team to annexed some medals where his performance yielded him a call up in the Western regional volleyball team in 2007 for a regional tournament in Eastern region [Koforidua] making his first ever appearance for the team.
His performances for the Western regional team gained him the privilege to join the Northern sector Volleyball team for a peace campaign games in Ashanti Region [Kumasi].
However, Attom’s dream of joining the Senior National team, Black Spikers came true after a blistering performance in the peace campaign games.
He was later recommended by Black Spikers head coach Justice Ajasu to join the Ghana Airforce team which was then handled by Ex W.O Goka .
Attom had an awesome debut season for the Air force team where he helped the team to set a record by placing second in the 2010 league and has also clinched medals in other competitions for the team.
Although he was a civilian, his amazing performances offered him the chance to join the Military(Air force) where he made his first international appearance in Togo for a solidarity tournament where he took home a bronze medal.
Attom then joined the National Under 23 team for the ECOWAS games in 2012, the team won the gold medal due to his outstanding performance as a middle player in the tournament.
His achievement as volleyball player is remarkable, he was part of the senior national team that went to play the All African games in Burkina Faso in 2014, they placed second to Nigeria during the qualifiers which ended Ghana qualifying to the All African Games hosted by Congo Brazzaville in 2015. The team placed third in their group thus ending the desire of winning the tournament.
He also contributed immensely to Black Spikers qualification to Africa and World Cup tournaments in Egypt by beating Nigeria in the final qualifier.
The team placed third in their group in Egypt where most pundits described it as group of death and theirĀ performance got a huge attention and applause.
