Former GHALCA chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo has again reiterated his displeasure and grievances about the state of the national team the Black Stars, player selection and the retention of head coach Otto Addo. The coach has recently come under intense scrutiny, pressure and criticism after Black Stars horrible and abysmal display to miss the AFCON.
To Mr Fianoo, the problem started from Cameroon, citing the longevity of the problem as he asked whether it is the problem of the coaches or the players. The former GHALCA Boss was also baffled that GFA retained Otto Addo after failing woefully to qualify the Black Stars.
Mr Fianoo, also charged the authorities to call the right players to the national team. He was emphasizing on the inability of the GFA to invite the right players due to interest of fixing their own players. Speaking on Black Stars problems and the decision to retain Otto Addo, he said
“Our challenges started in Cameroon, and the questions were, is the problem the coach or players? We have seen changes after every tournament, and so the decision to retain Otto Addo after failing to qualify for AFCON is surprising to me, but I believe the right players should be selected in every game.”
“Players who are ready to die for the team must be invited, and that must be the way to go. As a Ghanaian, what I can do is to help the team in prayers ahead of every game.”
