The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred during the Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025. The incident tragically resulted in the death of one person.
The suspects, identified as Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph, are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
A search of Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence revealed two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, which have been retrieved as evidence.
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, has personally reached out to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club to express condolences on behalf of the Ghana Police Service. He assured them of a thorough and swift investigation into the matter.
Additionally, a special investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters has been deployed to support the Bono Regional Police Command in uncovering the full details of the incident and ensuring justice is served.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order while appealing to the public to assist with any information that could aid in the investigation.
