Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has lamented that the poor state of pitches in Ghana is seriously affecting the progress of players plying their trade in the Zylofon Cash Premier League.

Gyan who is impressed with the standard of play in Ghana Premier League believes the performance of players in the Ghanaian top-flight football is impressive and they can make it to the highest stage but lamented that the state of pitches in the country is hindering the progress of the players.

Speaking to the media after watching the full ninety minutes of Liberty Professionals and Asante Kotoko clash, the former Sunderland goal poacher commented that Ghana keeps nurturing abundance of talent but stressed that the pitches in the country is hindering the progress of the players.
“Ghana continues to nurture pure talents in abundance and it’s good for the future because some can reach the highest level. But what keeps hindering the players progress is the field they play on so we need to look at that angle too”, he added.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old, who enjoyed a successful campaign with Turkish side Kayserispor is in the country on vacation and watched as his former team Liberty Professionals shared the spoils 1:1 with Asante Kotoko in Match day 14 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League on last Wednesday.
