Popular broadcast journalist, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson has been remanded two weeks in prison for publishing a fake kidnapping case.
The award-winning broadcaster on October 17, 2021 made a publication of a kidnapping case at Mpohor in the Western Region.[ads2]
According to his publication, a 26-year old lady with the name Stephanie Kumiwaa has been kidnapped in Mpohor with the kidnappers demanding Gh¢2,000.00 as ransom.
The Police begun investigations into the case and it came out that the kidnapping case is fake.[ads3]
The police in an earlier statement said that checks at the Mpohor District Police Command indicated that no such case has been reported there.
To assist the police in the investigations, broadcast journalist Paa Kwesi Simpson who carried the publication was arrested alongside the husband of the victim Samuel Kumi.[ads4]
After interrogations, Paa Kwesi Simpson who works with Media General subsidiary in the Western Region, Connect FM, was been granted an enquiry bail whilst Samuel Kumi remains in police custody.
But at a court hearing today, Thursday, November 4, 2021, the ace broadcaster has been remanded to prison for two weeks.[ads5]
