Oguaamanhen Osabarima Kwesi Atta II has underscored the need for the government to find a lasting solution to the proliferation of tricycles (Pragya) in the country, particularly in Central Regional, as its killing the citizens.
He indicated that the rampant use of Pragya is becoming a huge problem in Cape Coast as it contributes to high rate of deaths in the Region.
He, therefore, called for urgent action to halt the use of such vehicles for commercial purposes.[ads2]
Osabarima was more worried about age of the tricycle riders saying most of them are “children, some even look like 10 years. I therefore want to ask, are there no regulations guiding the use of these Pragya?”
Osabarima disclosed this at a forum to deliberate on the challenges facing the youth in Cape Coast.
It was organized in collaboration with the MP for Cape Coast South, Mr. Ricketts Kweku Hagan, together with stakeholders from the various departments including the security agencies and health service.[ads3]
Osabarima Kwesi Atta II II further stated the main problem in Cape Coast is indiscipline.
Mr. George Kweku Ricketts Hagan, Cape Coast South MP, on his part stated, “if there are no external regulations for the Pragya riders, then we can bring these riders together to form an association so they can be regulated instead of people calling for the ban of Pragya in the country”.
