President Akufo-Addo has declared sitting vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the upcoming elections.
President Akufo-Addo made the declaration when he submitted his nomination form to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to be their flagbearer in the 2020 general elections.
Addressing the party faithfuls at the NPP headquarters today, President Akufo-Addo stated that he has chosen Dr. Bawumia as his running mate for the elections which will be held on December 7 this year.
“Our party regulations says that once a flagbearer is chosen, the flagbearer must choose his running mate. This is not a matter that needs any consideration, once my hands are lifted, I will also lift up the hands of the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He is certainly the one I will be running with” President Akufo-Addo said.
Meanwhile, the flagbearer of the leading opposition party NDC, John Mahama has set March this year to choose his running mate as well.
