In a brief ceremony held at the Jubilee House, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo received the 13th African Games Torch.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the African Union gave the presentation on Thursday.
The event, whose opening ceremony takes place today, March 8, 2024, is preceded by a visit from a delegation that includes Sports Minister Mustapha Yusif.
The delegation’s leader, Ambassador Minata Samate Cessouma, who is the Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development at the AU praised Ghana for the preparations.
President Akufo-Addo promised that Ghana would successfully host the 13th African Games, and he expressed his happiness at receiving the delegation and the torch.
Over 4,000 competitors in 29 sports, including 8 that qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, will make up this significant continental event.
