The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the Black Stars to repeat the 5:0 thrashing they handed the Ethiopians in the first leg of the 2019 Afcon qualifiers in Kumasi.
President Akufo-Addo, who is in Ethiopia for an African Union assignment, visited the Black Stars on Saturday ahead of their African Cup qualifier with Ethiopia on Sunday.
“I am here (Ethiopia) on an AU assignment but I thought it wise to come inspire you ahead of this game,” the President told the team.
“I know you defeated Ethiopia 5:0 at home; it is time to do it again. It has been a long time since Ghana won the Afcon so clear this hurdle and go for the ultimate,” President Akufo-Addo urged the team.
Following the suspension of Sierra Leone from international football, Ghana’s group is currently left with three countries including Ghana, with Kenya leading the group with seven points, four more than Ghana.
After the Ethiopia match, the Black Stars will host Kenya next year.
