President John Dramani Mahama, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Petroleum Commission Act 2011 (Act 821), has appointed Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission.
This announcement, effective from 17th January 2025, was communicated through an official letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., the Secretary to the President. The appointment comes as part of President Mahama’s efforts to ensure smooth leadership and governance in the petroleum sector pending further consultations and advice from the Commission’s Board and the Public Services Commission.
Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle’s appointment is expected to bolster operations at the Petroleum Commission as the country continues to prioritize sustainable energy production and management. Her leadership is anticipated to drive progress in the sector while aligning with the government’s energy transition goals.
In his letter, President Mahama extended his congratulations to Ms. Hardcastle, expressing confidence in her capabilities to steer the Commission effectively during this period. The correspondence was copied to the Vice President, Chief of Staff, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, the Board Chairperson of the Petroleum Commission, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission.
Ms. Hardcastle, a seasoned professional with years of experience in the energy sector, is poised to bring innovative ideas to the Commission, ensuring it continues to play a critical role in Ghana’s economic and energy development.
