President Akufo-Addo is expected to leave the shores of Ghana on Monday, December 14, 2020 for Ivory Coast, Guinea and the United Kingdom.
In Ivory Coast, President Akufo-Addo will be witnessing the inauguration of President Alassane Ouattara who will be sworn into government again for his third term.[ads2]
Alassane Ouattara has been elected as the president of Ivory Coast for the third time with 94.27% of the vote.
On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, President Akufo-Addo will then leave Ivory Coast for Guinea to witness inauguration of President Alpha Condé as well.[ads3]
Alpha Condē has been the President of the Republic of Guinea since December 2010.
This was disclosed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stating that President Akufo-Addo will then jet off to London before returning to Accra.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah didn’t explained what President Akufo-Addo will be doing in London and when he will return to Ghana.
The trip forms part of President Akufo-Addo’s duty as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).[ads4]
President Akufo-Addo was elected by the 57th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS as the new Chairman on October 9, 2020.
In his absence, Ghana’s Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia will act as the president of the country.[ads5]
