Prisons Ladies supporter, Sergeant Baffour Awuah alias Bantama has denied attacking Ghanaian female referee, Theresa Bremansu during a hearing today at the office of the Sunyani Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Kingsley Wiredu.
The avid supporter and a Sergeant of the Prisons Service was brought before the the Sunyani Divisional Crime Officer alongside four others who were also caught in the act.
Referee Theresa Bremansu accompanied by Normalization Committee representative, Mustapha Capito was asked to point at the one who assaulted her during Prisons Ladies clash against Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the first-leg of the NC Special Women’s Cup semi-final at Sunyani.
She however pointed at Bantama as the real person who gave her the heavy slaps which even affected her hearing ability but the Sergeant who has trimmed down the head and cut down his beard, and was never on duty during the match day, denied laying a hand on the female referee but explained that ‘ I heard a loud noise from the park so I decided to find out what’s happening, unfortunately it was the referee who was under attack. I rushed to the pitch, trying to defend her from the angry fans of Prisons Ladies. I didn’t slap her as it was being reported.”
Mustapha Capito who represented the Normalization Committee told Kyfilla.com that ” the Divisional Crime Officer handled the case professionally and must be commended. Bantama and the other four supporters have been granted bail.”
But Kyfilla.com source disclossed that, the docket will be presented to the Sunyani Regional Police Commander who will then forward it to the Attorney General for prosecution.
Its must be noted that, Mustapha Capito represented the Normalization Committee based on the orders of the GFA Technical Director, Mr. Oti Akenteng due to the absence of Deputy General Secretary, Alex Asante who was then in Egypt for the 2019 AFCON draw.
