The body of late Ghanaian forward Raphael Dwamena arrived in Ghana on Friday night after he passed away last week Saturday.
On November 11, 2023, during a league game between his team, Egnatia FC, and Partizani Tirana, the striker collapsed and was later declared dead.
Dwamena’s body arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra late on Friday night, to a solemn reception from his grieving family.
Raphael Dwamena had a history of heart issues and had suffered multiple heart failures in the years prior to this tragic incident and pre-mature death.
A minute of silence was observed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium prior to Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday in remembrance and honor of Dwamena.
Raphael Dwamena made his debut for the Black Stars on June 11, 2017, against Ethiopia and his impressive performance in that game saw him score a brace.
He made nine appearances in total for the men’s senior national team during his career.
