Canadian rap superstar Drake has aimed a cheeky jibe at Lionel Messi when placing a $300,000 bet on Canada to upset Argentina in the Copa America semi-finals.
However, Canada faces a daunting but feasible test to reach the final with the reigning champions Argentina standing in their way.
Drake, as a Toronto native is throwing his support, and considerable funding, behind the Canadian cause despite already witnessing a 2-0 defeat to the Argentines in the opening game.
Before the game, Drake jokingly stated that things “could get Messi”. The rapper could win $2.8 million if Canada can spring an upset against Argentina.
