Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has reiterated his team readiness to face bitterest rival, Accra Hearts of Oak in the semi-finals of the NC Special Competition.
According to Akonnor, the entire Asante Kotoko playing body are prepared enough for the cracker scheduled for June 16, 2019 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“I’m preparing the boys for Hearts of Oak game, whether today or tomorrow if the management changes their mind, we’re ready to play Hearts of Oak”, Akonnor told Kotoko Express.
But as to whether the Porcupine Warriors will honour the clash remains unknown as the team have already withdrew from the Special Competition after the Normalization Committee denied them a 40% gate proceeds and also affirmed Accra Sports Stadium as the venue.
Kotoko petitioned the Normalization Committee to give them 40% of the gate proceeds from the Hearts of Oak duel instead of the 30% or choose a neutral ground for the game scheduled for June 16, 2019.
The Normalization Committee, in a statement denied Asante Kotoko the 40% gate proceeds and insisted that Accra Sports Stadium remains the venue for the cracker.
Kotoko then withdrew from the competition following the denial by the Normalization Committee.
Meanwhile, the Normalization Committee, according to a reliable report, has agreed in a meeting to top up Asante Kotoko with a 10%, making it 40% same as home team, Accra Hearts of Oak. The Committee has communicated the decision to the management of the Porcupines and the team is reported to rescind their decision in no time soon.
