MTN Ghana has threatened to end relationship with the Ghana Football Association if the 2019/2020 season’s MTN FA Cup is cancelled.
The Ghana Football Association is contemplating cancelling the season following the outbreak of the global pandemic, coronavirus, which caused the suspension of the season earlier in the month of April 2020.
Several reports headlined by Skyy Power FM, a station owned by the chairman of the FA Cup Committee, Honorable Wilson Arthur on Tuesday, June 16, have revealed the intention of the GFA sponsor if the rumors to cancel the season is carried out.

The MTN-GFA sponsorship has been running since 2010 and remains the longest running private sponsorship package for the Ghana Football Association.
It’s also worth noting that the FA Cup Competition has been dormant just as the league when it was last played in 2017. Asante Kotoko thrashed Hearts of Oak 3–1 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium and has since not been played seen a full end to a season.
It can also be recalled that a week ago similar reports were carried out in the media that StarTimes, the broadcast right owners of the GFA organized competitions has made similar demands though the Chinese originated company denied putting anything like that across.

The Ghana Football Association have failed to see through any of their competitions since 2017 where Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko emerged winners of the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup competitions respectively in the men’s competitions.
