Ghanaian powerhouse, Hearts of Oak have reportedly close to appointing Serbian trainer Slavko Matic as the new head coach.[ads2]
The 46-year old has reportedly agreed a two-year deal with the Phobians after a crunch negotiations.
Matic is reportedly joining the former Ghana Premier League Champions as replacement for Samuel Boadu who was sacked few weeks ago despite winning five trophies in his two-year stay at the club.
Currently, David Ocloo who was appointed as assistant coach for the club has been handed the head coach job on interim basis and will be at the dugout when Hearts of Oak face AS Real Bamako in the return leg fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup second round.[ads3]
Reports say Slavko Matic will be in the stands when Hearts of Oak host AS Real Bamako at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend.
Matic is a UEFA Pro Licence holder, played for OFK Beograd, Spartak Moscow, PFC Slavia Sofia and PFC CSKA Sofia during his playing days.
He had a short stint as manager of Arda Kardzhali between November 12 and 16 December 16, 2021 but was released from his duties following a controversial interview, in which he revealed serious issues inside the club.[ads4]
Matic was hired as Septemvri Sofia coach, a team from the second tier of Bulgarian football, in early 2022.
Meanwhile, the Rainbow giants need to overturn a 3:0 deficit at the Accra Sports Stadium against Real Bamako to be able to secure a qualification to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.[ads5]
