Coach James Kwesi Appiah’s Spokesperson, Asante Forkuo has rebutted comments made by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the growing impasse as a result of Appiah’s demand for his unpaid remuneration.
The former Black Stars Coach who ended his two years contract with the Black Stars in December 2019 has been chasing some USD 185,000 arrears in salaries and bonus.

Appiah who was on a USD 35,000 salary is believed to be owed a sum of USD 185,000 compounded from six months unpaid salaries and a USD 10,000 bonus.
The erstwhile Black Stars skipper through his attorneys served the GFA a demand notice somewhere April 2020 and according to Forkuo the spokesperson, the GFA has failed to acknowledge receipt.
Kofi Asare Brako – who’s the spokesperson of the Sports Ministry has in his recent interview posited that moves made by the former Black Stars coach in the aim of getting his money paid is an act of ingratitude to MOYS and GFA who gave him appointment in the first place.
In an effort to swat aside those comments by Asare Brako, Forkuo says the GFA and MOYS are disrespecting Kwesi Appiah and there’s no way this would have been done if Kwesi Appiah was a foreigner.

“The GFA should at least respect Kwasi Appiah and acknowledge receipt of his letters since it does not show respect. Could they have done that if it was a white coach?
“You accepted you owe him and instead of you least tell him something positive or negotiating you are beating about the bush and insulting him. I was surprised when I heard the minister speaking through his spokesperson Asare Brako saying Appiah did not achieve his target etc. The question is our contract a performance based, if not then they should do what is expected of them and pay him before matters get worse.
“We wrote to GFA and copied the Ministry because we had a contract with the GFA and not the ministry. It is the responsibility to the ministry to make sure that all employees of the FA are paid and Appiah was an employee of the GFA.
“We want to exhaust all the necessary channels by probably writing to the GFA and coping the ministry again for the last time and if they fail to respond then, we advise ourselves.

“Whether they appointed Kwasi Appiah through favoritism or nepotism means is their own problem and it does not mean we shouldn’t talk about our debt. All we expect is they should respect and honour their part of the contract obligations by paying us. All other issues are secondary to us”.
“They shouldn’t try to pitch Appiah against Ghanaians since he officially showed appreciation to the people of Ghana after his contract was not renewed for the opportunity given him but that does not mean he shouldn’t fight for his right” – Spokesperson of James Kwesi Appiah, Asante Forkuo told www.kyfilla.com
