Ghana’s only representative at the 2018-19 season of the CAF inter-club Kumasi Asante Kotoko are likely to lock horns with Cameroonian side Eding Sports in the CAF Confederation Cup prelims.
Eding Sports were supposed to play Lion Blesse – a division two side in Cameroon in the grand finale of the Cameroon FA Cup to determine who plays Kotoko in the Confederation Cup prelims but according to Afeseh Apong who is a journalist at Cameroon, the game isn’t likely to be played.
Speaking to Kumasi based Metro FM, Anpong who works with Dream FM in Cameroon disclosed that Eding Sports are likely to play the Confederation Cup because they meet all the requirements needed by CAF.
“Eding Sport will be playing the confederations cup as the game isn’t likely to be played,Lion Blesse play in the 2nd division and may not have enough qualified personnel “
“Eding Sport will be much ready because they meet all the needed requirements”.
“Cameroon do not have a definite calendar that’s why we struggling to produce a representative for the Kotoko game and it’s because CAF changed it’s calendar this year”
“We won’t redraw from CAF competitions because Eding sport is not the only Cameroonian club representing Cameroon,we have two CAF champions league reps and two reps in the CAF confederations cup which one is already known and the other yet to be known between Lion Blesse and Eding Sport”.
“We don’t know what is really happening between the two clubs and CAF”.
“We don’t have problem with the team playing all games with Kotoko in Ghana,but we the people of Cameroon would have love to see Kotoko play here”.
“Maybe the clubs are thinking of the Cost involved that maybe the reason”.
“Cameroon Government gave the two teams 10 million Franc to prepare for the Final but the game is unlikely to be played”.
The Confederation Cup encounter between Kotoko and the likely opponent Eding Sports is slated for Wednesday 28th November,2018 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before the return leg on the following week.
