The Minister of Roads and Highway, Kwesi Amoako-Atta has called for the cessation of road and bridges toll collection nationwide.
The directives, according to a press statement signed by the Roads and Highway Minister, takes effect from 12:00am of Thursday, November 18, 2021.[ads2]
This comes after the government announced that road tolls have been scrapped. This was made known by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta when presenting the 2022 budget statement to Parliament on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
The Ministry has assured that personnel from the Motor, Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service will be on hand to provide security at all toll locations from the effective date.[ads3]
Motorists are advised to approach the locations with caution and observe all safety measures that will be put in place.
