The Ghana rugby team has lost its first game of the Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Championship to Namibia on early Saturday morning.
The Eagles were beaten 10:19 by their counterpart from Namibia despite dominating the early parts of the game.
Namibia have to come from behind to tame Ghana who went to the competition as the West African Champions.
The tournament will serve as the qualifier for the 2022 World Cup in Cape Town in South Africa and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The defeat means Ghana will have to participate in the Challenge Cup ( a competition for teams that couldn’t qualify to the next stage) and will face Burundi in first test.
This year’s Sevens AFCON have countries like Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Namibia, Senegal, Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Kenya all participating for the two tickets.
All three medallists will qualify for a ticket to Cape Town for the World Cup on September 9-11 at the Cape Town Stadium while only the finalists will have booked their flight to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games on July 29-31 at the Coventry Stadium
