About fifteen Ghanaian students in Ukraine have refused to return home despite government’s effort, according to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong.
The Ghanaian government has been evacuating its citizens in Ukraine since the Russia invasion.
Already the first batch of the students have returned to Ghana after government provided them with flight tickets.
Even though the government has vowed to evacuate its citizens from Ukraine, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong has revealed that fifteen of the students have been reluctant to return to Ghana after tickets have been bought for them.
“The latest is that we have another batch of eighteen who’ll be arriving tomorrow on Qatar Airways,” he said on Ghana Connect.
“The unfortunate thing is a large number of them who were originally scheduled to have travelled this evening and arrived tomorrow have decided that they were not coming. About fifteen of them have decided that they were not taking advantage.”
