Division One League side FC Samartex pipped Premiership outfit Karela United by a goal to nil in the second semifinal game of the Goldfields Western Region Invitational Tournament at the Sekondi Sports Stadium today.

In-form attacker Kweku Aidoo scored the only goal in the cagey match for the Samraboi based club to secure a final spot in the competition.

Samartex started the game on a good note, creating some descent chances which resulted to Kweku Aidoo’ fifth minute opener.
Coach Bismark Kobby Mensah’ side continued to pile up pressure on Karela United defense, which resulted to a second goal but unfortunately the assistant line two flagged for offside.

The first forty-five minutes ended 1-0 in favor of FC Samartex who enjoyed much of the possession.
The second half begun with Karela United showing enough determination of getting the equalizer.
Skipper Godfred Yeboah nearly restored parity for Karela United but his strike in the 55th minute went over the crossbar.
Emmanuel Keyekeh also saw his thunderbolt strike went whisker the crossbar.
Samartex shot stopper made two brilliant saves to keep his side still on the lead.
Unfortunately Samartex defender Johans Bordoh was shown the exit after a bad tackle in the dying embers of the game.
The ninety minutes ended 1-0 in favor of Samartex, who have qualified to play Elmina Sharks in the grand finale of the Goldfields Western Region Invitational Tournament.
