Twitter has become increasingly popular with academics as well as students, policymakers, politicians and the general public. Many users struggled to understand what Twitter is and how they could use it, but it has now become the social media platform of choice for many.
The snappy nature of tweets means that Twitter is widely used by smartphone users who don’t want to read long content items on-screen.
But how has Twitter impacted positively on the traditional media and why the traditional media with main focus on radio, embraced the microblogging system in this modern era.
Most Ghanaian radio stations have quickly embraced the use of Twitter to reach wider audience who are within or outside their catchment area. Example of these stations include Joy FM, Peace FM, 3FM, Adom FM, YFM (Accra), Citi FM, just to mention few, making them a powerhouse in the Ghanaian media scope.
