The Lions of Senegal are the champions of the 2019 WAFU CUP after beating the Black Stars ‘B’ of Ghana on penalty shoot-outs.

The regulation period ended 1-1 and the two sides had to be separated with a penalty shoot-outs where Senegal won by 3-1.
The ninety minutes was a balanced game as both sides enjoyed possession and created some decent chances but failed to utilize the opportunities.
Senegal came close to the opener in the dying embers of the ninety minutes but goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi was there to save the situation.

The ninety minutes ended in a goalless and the game had to travel to extra time.
In the 106th minute of the extra time, a defensive blunder from the right side of Ghana’ defense saw Youssouf Badji given the host country the lead.

As if all hope were lost, Hearts of Oak forward Joseph Esso snatched the parity for Ghana courtesy a drop ball in the eighteen years box where his strike went straight to the net in the 109th minute of the game.
The Lions of Senegal regrouped and started piling up pressure for the match winner but all efforts went fruitless as the game ended 1-1 and both sides had to separated via penalty shoot-outs.

In the shoot-outs Augustine Okrah, Fatawu Mohammed and Justice Blay missed their kicks with only Appiah McCarthy converting his. Senegal won the shoot-outs by 3-1 to lift the ultimate for the very first time.
