Several people were injured on Tuesday during the inauguration of Kenya President-elect William Ruto at the Kasarani Sports Centre in Nairobi.[ads2]
A video broadcast Kenyan television showed people being attended to by medics after being injured in the crush outside the 60,000-seat edifice.
According to reports, fans of Ruto filled the stadium as early as 5am to an extent that there were a huge crowd outside the stadium for were willing to enter the stadium for the ceremony.[ads3]
Unfortunately, the crowd was very huge that it ended in a stampede were many sustained various degrees of injury.[ads4]
Ruto, the former Deputy President was elected the next Kenyan president in the general election held on August 9, 2022 , in which four candidates including the former member of Kenyan Parliament, Raila Odinga contested.
According to the Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Ruto polled 7,176,141 representing 50.5% while his rival, Odinga had 6,942,930 representing 48.8%.[ads5]
