The Shama District Football Association under the auspices of Western Regional Football Association has held its end of season awards at the Riverside Conference Center in Shama on Saturday, September 24, 2022.[ads2]
The colorful event which was to honor young footballers, coaches, referees and match commissioners was graced by chiefs and other traditional leaders within the Shama District.
This year’s was the second edition where over thirty personalities were awarded.
In his address, the Chairman of the Shama District Football Association and ace sports broadcaster George Kuntu Blankson highlighted the need for the awards and the ambition of the association to develop football in there district before their term in office elapse.
He acknowledged the support offered to the association by opinion leaders in the district since the inception of the awards.
“We faced some challenges last season due to the coronavirus pandemic but we managed to sail through. We instituted this awards to encourage and appreciate footballers who excel in league seasons. It is our objective as leaders of the football fraternity in this district to develop the game hence the need for the awards.”
