Afua Asantewaa has received high appreciation from Charles Nii Armah Populary Shatta Wale for her initiative in organizing a singa-thon to promote Ghanaian music.
Afua Asantewaa may have had a difficult few days because of her detractors’ accusations on social media that she acted dishonestly by failing to disclose that Guinness World Records (GWR) had disqualified her from being the person who had performed the longest singing marathon.
Despite her disqualification, Shatta Wale calls Afua Asantewaa the “Yaa Asantewaa of our time” and says that she does not think the attacks are justified.
In an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum failed in her ambitious endeavor.
A statement released on Friday, February 23, by the official Guinness World Records handle on social media conveyed the decision to disqualify Asantewaa.
The statement expressed regret that her attempt did not meet the criteria for success but encouraged her to consider future record-breaking endeavors.
“Unfortunately, Afua’s attempt to set a record for the longest singing marathon was unsuccessful. We hope she will try again soon,” the statement said in part. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans.”
When Mrs. Aduonum started the project in December 2023, her goal was to break the record held by Indian Sunil Waghmare, who sang for a remarkable 105 hours between March 3 and March 7, 2012.
Despite her determination, her attempt fell short, disqualifying her from claiming the prestigious title.
Afua Asantewaa said in an interview with GTV earlier today that Guinness World Records (GWR) violated their contract when they revealed the outcome of her singing marathon.
She was to announce the results to the public, and GWR was to notify her under the terms of the agreement.
