Esiama Senior High Technical School final-year student Philip Armah Ludtroth, 19, tragically perished when he attempted to leap over the school’s fence wall.
Ludtroth reportedly jumped the wall on Wednesday, March 20, at around 1300 GMT to buy food outside, but he tragically landed on his neck and badly sprained it.
In an interview, Wilfred Adodoadji, the Ellembelle District Director of Education, verified the incident and mentioned that the day in question was Heroes Day.
The boy attempted to sneak out by jumping the school fence wall, but Mr. Adodoadji claimed that the boy’s mother visited the school with provisions for him.
“Unfortunately, he landed on his neck and sustained a neck sprain, and he was later rushed to the clinic at Esiama,” Mr. Adodoadji said.
Upon being transported to St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital in Eikwe, Ludtroth was pronounced deceased. Now, while an autopsy is being conducted, the body is being kept at the morgue of the Eikwe Hospital.
An investigation into the incident has been started in the interim by the Esiama Divisional Police Command.
