President Akufo-Addo has reiterated government efforts to refurbish various sporting facilities in the country.
The revelation made by the President may come as an exciting one as most of the sporting facilities in the country has been left to deteriorate with the Sekondi Sports Stadium as an example.
Reading the State of the Nation’s Address today, the President hinted that renovation and upgrading exercises have commenced at the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadia as well as the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Kaneshie and the government is keen on refurbishing all sports facilities across the country.
The exercise according to the President is to position Ghana as a preferred destination for the development of sporting disciplines in the continent as the Ghana has been handed the right to host the 13th edition of the All African Games.
” We’ve begun renovating and upgrading our sporting infrastructure such as the Accra and Cape Coast Sports Stadia, and the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Kaneshie and a complete refurbishment of sports facilities across the country.
He however continued that funds have been released for the completion of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium which was initially started by the former President Agyekum Kuffour-led NPP government but was abandoned soon after 2009
