The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Javier Gutierrez, yesterday paid a courtesy call on Asantehene at Manhyia Palace.
H.E. Gutierrez told Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is also the Chancellor of KNUST, that means are being explored to establish the department which will augment the study of linguistics in the institution.[ads4]
“We want to explore ways to open a Spanish Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) by sending a lecturer and finding ways to promote not just the Spanish Department but also other countries that have similar language as Spanish”, he stated.
He added that his focus for the country is to improve partnership in terms of tourism, health, infrastructure, energy, environment and sanitation.
Otumfuo lauded the various initiatives of the Ambassador, H.E. Gutierrez.[ads2]
His Majesty indicated that “If we can set up a team from my Palace and your office, then there can be a collaboration to identify the various opportunities here (in the Ashanti region) and how we can transform that to employable and economically viable enterprises for the people of Spain and Ghana and Ashanti to benefit from.”
