A twenty -two year old self approved spiritualist has been sentenced to 14years in prison with hard labour by the Tarkwa circuit court for defiling a 14year old girl at Asikafoamatem, a suburb of Asankrangwa.
Moses Oppong the spiritualist convicted guilty after he pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement. The court chaired by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, pronounced Oppong on his own plea and sentenced him duly.
Prosecuting, chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court the plaintiff in the matter is the mother of the victim.
She said On October 22, this year, the plaintiff together with her daughter who was two month two weeks pregnant made a report to the police at Asankrangwa that was on July 2018, Oppong convinced the victim to a teak plantation near the Pentecost mission house at Asikafoamatem under the pretence of breaking a spiritual death curse on her.
Inspector Anaman said the convict then told the victim to allow him sleep with her otherwise the spirit will kill her and she obeyed.
The prosecutor said Oppong took advantage and had sexual intercourse with with the victim on 3 different occasions ending in the pregnancy .
According to Inspector Anaman, a police medical form was issued to the plaintiff to send to the hospital and should return the forms back to the police which was confirmed that she is pregnant.
She ended by saying Oppong was immediately arrested and detained for interrogations.
