The Ministry of Youth and Sports have congratulated the senior national women’s team, Black Queens for clinching a bronze medal in the just ended WAFU Zone B Championship.
Ghana beat counterpart from Mali via 8:7 on penalty shootouts to clinch the bronze medal in the eight teams competition after 0:0 in the regulation.
Even though, the aim of the team was to defend the trophy after winning the maiden edition, the ministry believe many positives can be derived from the team as the squad is currently a blend of experience and young ones and will help the country in the subsequent tournaments.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, who shuttered Ghana’s dream of defending the trophy with a semi-final defeat, were the champions of the competition after beating Ivory Coast in the final.
