President Akufo-Addo has advised the member of Parliament for Fomena, Hon. Andrews Amoako Asiamah to desist from contesting the forthcoming elections as an independent candidate.
Hon. Asiamah declared to contest the 2020 December polls as an independent candidate after losing the bid during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

Since his declaration, there has been an unease rest among the party faithfuls in the constituency as some have declared their support for him, stating that his defeat was masterminded.
But addressing the chiefs and people of Fomena and Akrokerri, all in the Adansi North District at separate durbars, President Akufo-Addo urged the legislator to return to the NPP and stop contesting the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

“My humble appeal to the MP is to change his mind since the decision to go solo in the parliamentary elections is not in the best interest of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his own political career,” he noted.

““I have personally invited and sat down with Lawyer Asiamah to throw his support behind the NPP, but all had fallen on deaf ears,” the President lamented.
President Akufo-Addo however, urged the constituents to vote massively for the NPP in the upcoming general elections for more development.
