Former member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare Ansah has charged some members of the NPP to desist from denigrating Vice President Dr Bawumia in the name of racial strife.[ads2]
Known as a leading supporter of Alan Kyeremanteng’s campaign in the past, Frederick Ansah Opare believes the Vice President has served the NPP diligently by helping the party to win two significant elections as the running mate and therefore deserves the needed respect.
“It is time to stop some NPP members’ attempts to defame the Vice President in the name of racial strife. He is a man who has served as the party’s running mate in a number of elections, and his efforts have helped us win two significant elections. Those who are doing this should stop because he is a diligent man and has not sought to disparage any of his potential contenders.” Hon Opare Ansah said during an interview on Asempa FM’s Eko Sii Sen political show.[ads3]
In the interview, the experienced lawmaker squashed reports that Dr Bawumia’s recent tour to the northern sector of the country was to campaign as he plans to lead the NPP as the flagbearer in the 2024 elections.
He said that, “the Vice President wasn’t starting an election campaign; instead, he was on a working tour as part of the excellent work he has been doing, especially given the situation we are in. Some of these travels are motivated by his steadfast support for the President and specifically focus on inspecting government infrastructure projects, and it is clear from the projects he looked at (i.e., Agenda 111 and other MMDAs sanctioned infrastructure projects).” Opare Ansah clarified.[ads4]
Asked whether who deserve to lead the NPP in the 2024 polls, Frederick Opare Ansah who has been a leading supporter of Alan Kyeremanteng responded that the grassroots of the party want the Vice President to lead them in the elections and will therefore support Dr Bawumia to win the primaries should he officially declare to contest for the flagbearership position of the party.[ads5]
