The Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has warned those in the Ashanti region enclave under or not in lockdown to defray from using unapproved routes from and to the region’s capital Kumasi.

It was making rounds in the media that, some residents of towns under lockdown in the Ashanti region have been using unapproved routes like pathways and bushes to outwit security checkpoints to move to other towns not affected by the lockdown and the vice versa.
Hon. Asiamah who was worried about the situation has sounded a word of caution to his constituents and those in the Ashanti region enclave to desists from the act.

He believed the acts is very dangerous and it exposes once life to danger in this Coronavirus period.
“Stop playing with your life. Why must we use unapproved routes to places that we have been told not to go. Government is trying its best to mitigate the spread of the disease by partially locking down some parts of the cities, it does mean we should sneak to those places. We should stop deceiving ourselves because Coronavirus is perilous.

“We should also practice personal hygiene since it’s the only way to avoid the pandemic. Let’s also try to adhere to the safety measures laid down by medical practitioners”, he added.

He made this known when he visited some health facilities in the Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti region.
Hon. Asiamah also took the opportunity to donate more health items like Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, gum thermometers, detergents and soaps, tissue papers among others to health facilities in the constituency which include Sereso Timpon Health Centre, Debra Camp CHIP Compound, Ahyereso CHIP Compound, Gyereso Health Centre, Anansu CHIP Compound and the Tanodumase Anglican Health Centre.
Ghana has so far recorded 566 cases of the Coronavirus disease with 8 deaths and 4 recoveries as of Monday, April 12, 2020.
