The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has welcomed and congratulated the new Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif with a call on him to focus on the development of the Ghanaian athlete and the 2023 Africa Games to be hosted by Ghana.
According to the Association, the new Minister faces a tough test as Ghana is a couple of years away from hosting the biggest sporting event on the continent and would need to recruit athletes from all sporting disciplines to affirm the ‘Host and Win’ mantra.[ads3]
In a statement signed by the SWAG President, the Association urged the minister to focus on athlete development not only for the 2023 African Games but rather a long-term project that will see Ghana climbing and rubbing shoulders with other nations competitively at international competitions.[ads1]
