A Takoradi Circuit Court has sentenced a woman to six years imprisonment for faking her kidnapping.
It would be recalled that the Takoradi Divisional Police Command arrested three persons for allegedly faking a kidnapping incident in Takoradi.[ads2]
The suspects were Joana Krah, aged 29; Susana Awortwe, aged 27 and Francis Eshun, aged 27.
The three suspects were gripped by the police for allegedly faking a kidnap and demanding a ransom of Five-Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 5,000.00).[ads3]
At a court hearing today, the Takoradi Circuit Court presided over by Michael Kwadwo Ampadu, the 29-year old Joana Krah has been handed six-year imprisonment.
She was sentenced by the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on two counts of deceiving a public officer and publication of false news.[ads4]
This was after she pleaded guilty to the offences on Monday, October 25, 2021 when she was arraigned before the court presided over by Michael Kojo Ampadu.
For the publication of false news, she was sentenced to two years in prison and for the charge of deceiving a public officer, she was sentenced to six years in prison to bring the total sentence to 8years.
However, both sentences are to run concurrently and so she is to spend six years in prison.[ads5]
